About the event

MACPS will have our second meeting of 2024 in the The Pine Barrens in Pemberton Township, NJ. We will release more details in the coming months as we get closer to the event. 

Possible agenda and site visits:

A stop by our guide, Jason Ksepka's, bog garden in Tom's River N.J.

  1. Meet at 515 Terrace Avenue, Toms River, N.J. to kick off the day.
  2. Jason grows Sarracenia, Dionaea, Drosera and many non-carnivorous species.
  3. We will also be meeting up with Jason's co-host, Jason Austin, a fellow CP enthusiast who will join us and help with the tour.

Webbs Mill Bog - Rt. 539, Whiting, N.J. (If the site is not flooded by beaver damage)

  1. Following the meetup in Toms River we will continue on to Webbs Mill to see all three of N.J's Drosera, purpurea, Calopogon tuberous, Pogonia opioglossoides, Schizaea pusilla, Narthecium americanum, and mo
  2. Webbs Mill has been a premier site just off of a major road.
  3. It has an easy-to-access boardwalk that makes entering the bog safe and ethical.

Franklin Parker Preserve, Chatsworth, N.J.

  1. A large Pinelands preserve created by the conversion of private land that was a series of cranberry bogs.
  2. Possible time for lunch and MACPS meeting/auction.

Old Ironworks at Martha, N.J.

  1. If we have time after the auction we can head south from Chatsworth to the Oswego River.
  2. There we will be the need to drive on sand roads so having 4-wheel drive capability is recommended.
