21st MACPS Meeting

8 am - 7 pm on Friday and Saturday, September 22-23, 2023

Keystone Clash, Holiday Inn, 6170 Morgantown Rd, Morgantown, PA 19543

MACPS is excited to announce details for our 21st meeting, in collaboration with Keystone Clash! While Keystone Clash is primarily an event for aquarium enthusiasts, we will be there to add some plants! We will be tabling on Friday and Saturday, September 22-23 at the Holiday Inn, starting with setup at 8 am both days. Most of our programming will be on Saturday, which will include a talk on the basics of carnivorous plants and their cultivation (10 am) and our auction (5 pm). We are also bringing back our carnivorous plant show (plant entry and judging both on Saturday) and invite you to send in plants for display and judging! See details on judging in the links below. Please RSVP to let us know you are coming and if you are bringing plants for sale/auction judging. We look forward to seeing you there!

Updated auction policy

We have revised our auction and sales policy. In order to sell in either our invited events, such as our table at Keystone Clash, or our auctions, you MUST be a paid MACPS member. However, MACPS will take only 20% of proceeds, instead of the previous 50%. Furthermore, global minimum bids will now be $5; if an item does not receive any bids at $5, it will be returned to the seller. You are also welcome to specify your own minimum bid provided it is above $5. We hope these revised policies will encourage you to submit plants for sale and auction!

Future Events

  • September 9, 2023, 8:30-12:30 pm: Fall Gardeners' Market, Farm Home and Youth, 1015 Bridge Road, Collegeville, PA 19426

    • We will be selling plants and teaching visitors about carnivorous plants. Please email us at info@macpsociety.com if you are interested in helping out with the table and selling some of your own plants. As per auction guidelines, 50% of proceeds go to MACPS, but you will be allowed to sell non-carnivorous plants at our table.

About Us

MACPS Logo

Founded in January 2017, MACPS is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting scientific knowledge, education, and general awareness of carnivorous plants and their cultivation. We hold four meetings a year throughout PA, MD, VA, WV, DE, NJ, NY, and Washington, D.C., and also go on field trips and exchange cultivation advice that is uniquely suited for this region.

Our meetings are open to everyone! They feature lunch, a moderated Q&A on carnivorous plant cultivation, talks, workshops, and a plant auction. You are always encouraged to bring plants to display and auction.

We also offer memberships, which brings extra benefits. These include:

  • Auction selling privileges (but anyone can donate plants to the auction)

  • Subsidies, when applicable (e.g. hotel subsidy on field trips)

  • 10% discount at the Carnivorous Plant Nursery in Smithsburg, MD

Dues are not prorated. All proceeds from membership dues go directly towards operating costs of meetings (food, guest speaker honoraria and travel, meeting venue fees, maintenance of the website, etc.).

To apply for membership, please fill out this form and send the appropriate amount by PayPal to treasurer@macpsociety.com. Submitting the form and paying does not guarantee membership; we review each form and will let you know if you are approved for membership.
