Riverfront Park, Avondale St, Laurel, MD 20707, USA

About the event

We'll be exploring either the Lone Wolf Trail or the Vernal Pool Path. Located about halfway between Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, this field trip is a great opportunity to meet fellow carnivorous plant enthusiasts while exploring local habitats. Although this site doesn't have Sarracenia purpurea, it is home to large populations of Drosera intermedia as well as plenty of Utricularia inflata.

We'll begin the day at Riverfront Park in Laurel, MD, where we'll meet for lunch and hold our plant auction at the pavilion. If you plan to participate in the auction, please pre-register your plants ahead of time.

After the auction, we'll head out on the trail with our host, Patrick Treece (@thebaltimorebog), to experience carnivorous plants in the wild.

More about our host Patrick Treece

Patrick is an avid hiker and longtime plant enthusiast who is very well respected in the community, with over a decade of experience growing carnivorous plants. He is fascinated by their unique habitats and ecology. Much of his focus is on exploring Maryland’s remaining natural populations and documenting these increasingly rare plants and the habitats they call home.

MACPS is so thankful to him for taking the time to be our guide for our summer field trip.
